11-11-22 Our wedding day was absolutely perfect! Thanks to a good friend of ours and all their preparation, shopping and cooking ahead of time, all we had to do on the day of, was show up. Just a few friends and Mey’s family gathered before the big event for pre wedding drinks, and a little karaoke. My close friends and family were unable to gather in person, so they attended online, thank God for technology.
After the nuptials, we drank, sang, danced, laughed, and made unforgettable memories. A magical evening complete with all the feels. By the end of the night we were toast. I don’t think it really even hit me that we were officially married until the next morning when I woke up next to my wife. And to end the wedding weekend festivities, we went to watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as a family, came home and put up our Christmas tree. The weekend could not have gone better. It was and still is bliss.
Sometimes, I can’t even believe that I get to live this life. It feels like somewhat of a fantasy, one that I pray never ends. Every day is not always a great day, but when you are married to the love of your life, it’s easier to conquer the challenges that come up in relationships. We have so much love and respect for each other, it makes the rough days few and far between. It's the kind of love I’ve only seen in movies, and read about in books. It amazes me how blessed we are to have found each other. And to quote a Teddy Pendergrass song, yes, I’m wooed by all the loves songs lately:
It's so good, lovin' somebody
And somebody loves you back and that's a fact
It's so good wantin' somebody
And somebody wants you back
Me and my wife always joke with each other about brujeria (witch craft). There’s this salsa song I love called Brujeria by Gran Combo de Puerto Rica “Tu me hicistes brujeria” roughly translated ‘you did witchcraft on me’ believe it or not, it’s a love song. But, I’ll be honest with you, I did do brujeria.
I was talking to a friend about how crazy synchronistic the Universe is. It’s part of my spiritual practice to set intentions, especially on the new and full moon. And even if I miss the moon phase itself, I still set the intention, because the energy of the moon is powerful three days before and three days after.
February 27, 2021 there was a Full Snow Moon in Virgo. My Sun sign is in Virgo, and we’re notorious for our ability to organize and put things in order, so we can get shit done. Well, on March 1, 2021, just a few days after the full moon, me and a dear friend of mine did our moon ritual together. I knew it was going to be a powerful time and I was going to be moving to Costa Rica on March 17, 2021 so I wanted to take full advantage of the moons power.
I wrote down everything I wished to happen in Costa Rica, made a list of emotions I wanted to feel in order to recognize when my intentions were manifesting, and wrote an affirmation. I only had four intentions written down. Well by March 2022, just a year later, I realized that three of the four had actually manifested. Yes! But it was that fourth one that seemed to be lacking; a relationship. I’d had a few relationships in that first year, all with men, all failed.
Who knew that just a couple months later I’d meet my future spouse. I met Mey in May 2022, at work, of all places. Crazy thing is I had two job offers that month, and I had to make a decision. Return to corporate life, work remote, full time, and earn a pretty decent salary; or live onsite at a yoga retreat center, stay in my calling, and make less money. Well, I chose the retreat center. I only worked there for a few months, but it served its purpose. I was never supposed to be there long term. I was meant to meet who I would eventually call, my Wife.
After realizing that Mey was the woman I’d pledge myself to forever, I went back to look at my list of intentions I’d written the year before, and this is what I wrote:
Fall in love with my soulmate, my King, my partner in Costa Rica
I was a little baffled. I’d only ever dated men, so naturally I wrote King. Was this a mistake? The other parts of the intention had manifested. Then it hit me; I DID meet my King. Mey’s last name is Reyes, which means ‘King’ in Spanish. WHAT?! What for it… I wrote it on March 1, Mey’s birthday is March 1. WTF?! I could not believe it! Down to the very detail. I’d not only manifested everything I wrote down in just over a year, I’d married the love of my life. Look at God!
Is there a lesson. Absolutely! Sometimes, we don’t get what we want, because we deserve better. Sometimes, we’re so caught up looking for what we think we want, in exactly the way we want it, that we miss it entirely. If there’s anything you take away from this story, besides the fact that I’m no longer heterosexual, lol, I want you to realize that sometimes we can get in the way of our own manifestations. Sometimes, the decisions we make, prolong the journey. And then there are those moments, when we get silent and listen to that small still voice that tells us to make a decision that doesn’t make human sense, but in the Spirit world, it makes all the sense.
What’s your story? Do you have a love story to share? I’d love to hear.
